Master’s Degree in Neuroscience

Choose your specialization

A multidisciplinary programme

The Master's Degree in Neuroscience is organised by the three universities of Galicia: University of A Coruña, University of Santiago de Compostela and University of Vigo. This postgraduate course guarantees the basic training that all neuroscience professionals must have, as well as specialization in the different fields in which research is carried out in the three Galician universities.

FOR ACADEMIA

It presents the updated knowledge and experimental techniques of the different fields of Neuroscience, as well as the ability to obtain, process and transmit information autonomously.

FOR THE RESEARCH FIELD

This Master’s Degree in Neuroscience promotes initiation into the world of research. In addition, it allows access to the PhD Program in Neuroscience and Clinical Psychology, so that, once the doctoral thesis has been completed, the student will have all the skills necessary to carry out autonomous research work.

You will have the opportunity to present and discuss your own research work with lectures, colleagues and invited specialists during the neuroscience conference for young researchers organised as part of the Master.

FOR THE PROFESSIONAL FIELD

Obtain the theoretical and technical knowledge necessary to work in companies related to the neuroscience field. For clinical professionals, this postgraduate course facilitates to update knowledge on the biological bases of the function of the nervous system, as well as of neurological and mental disorders.

THE CHALLENGE OF THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE

One of the greatest challenges of research is to discover the mysteries of the brain, from the small molecules that make it function, to the bases of memory, intelligence and will. Further knowledge on this will allow us to combat diseases that affect it, improve our quality of life and advance in our own understanding as humans

THE POSSIBILITY OF PART-TIME STUDY

Students have the option of enrolling part-time taking 30 credits per year..

Advantages of studying the Master's Degree at the UDC Faculty of Science

Teachers and Research Groups

A team of lectures with extensive experience training high-level researchers, as well as research groups of international prestige.

Networking and continuous training

Virtual Campus on the Internet, where teachers and students can create their own educational community. Participation in courses and congresses organised by the programme, by the Spanish Neuroscience Society and by the European Neuroscience Federation.

European PhD and international collaboration

Possibility of obtaining the European doctorate, an internationally recognised title of excellence. Collaborations with other national and international programmes and laboratories, which facilitate contact with other researchers and participation in different research projects.

Galicia

The historical, cultural and social wealth of Galicia, which facilitates student integration and complements their research training.

ACCESS PROFILE

The master’s degree is open to graduate students in Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Psychology, Veterinary and Marine Sciences, as well as graduate students from other fields with experience and/or specific interest in the different areas of knowledge of Neuroscience.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

The master’s degree has a research profile, as it is mainly aimed at training researchers. It allows initiation to research and qualifies students to be able to enrol in a doctorate.

In the academic field, it presents updated knowledge and experimental techniques of different fields of Neuroscience. It allows acquiring the capacity to obtain information, process and transmit it autonomously.

In the professional field, the Master’s Degree in Neuroscience provides students with the theoretical and technical knowledge necessary to carry out work in companies and industries related to the field of Neuroscience. For clinical professionals, it allows them to update their knowledge of the biological bases of how the nervous system functions, as well as of neurological and mental disorders.

There is the option of part-time enrolment: in this case the student will take 30 credits per year
