BIOTECHNOLOGY GROWS
Biotechnology in Spain has maintained positive growth rates despite the harshness of the crisis, making it one of the key strategic sectors in the economic recovery.
TIMETABLE
Classroom attendance: Theoretical and practical classes are held from Monday to Friday in the afternoon, from 4.00 pm to 8.30 pm (except visits to companies and/or institutions in the sector).
DUAL ORIENTATION
Advanced training in biotechnology, of a specialized and multidisciplinary nature. Obtain all the necessary tools to promote initiation into research and professional tasks.
THREE SPECIALITIES
The master’s degree allows you to specialize in three major areas of biotechnology: Food and Agricultural Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology and Sanitary Biotechnology.
CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS
There will be 18 internship credits in companies and/or research centres related to biotechnology in Spain or abroad.
TEACHING TEAM
Classes taught by first class professors from the universities of Vigo and A Coruña, as well as by guest specialists.

ACCESS PROFILE
All university degrees in the branch of Experimental Sciences or Health Sciences that can provide sufficient prior training to gain access to specialization studies in the field of Biotechnology.
The Master’s Degree in Advanced Biotechnology aims to be a potentially useful quality postgraduate offer for undergraduates/graduates in Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Environmental Sciences, Marine Sciences and Chemical or Agronomy Engineering, as well as a pathway to train professionals and doctors among the graduates of these degrees.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
1. Specialist professional with a solid conceptual and methodological training in biotechnology of the production systems, management and quality control of the food and agricultural industries.
2. Professional specialized in biotechnology applications in the sustainability of production systems and in the bioremediation of the environment, as well as in its prevention and management (environmental audits).
3. Professional specialist in diagnosis and molecular therapy of diseases, as well as in production systems and management of biomedical industries.
4. A professional with a critical scientific spirit, capacity for experimental design, scientific communication, teamwork and with the necessary skills for incorporation into research centres and companies in the biotechnology sector.
The master's degree is fully consolidated and has been widely accepted and demanded by students since it was introduced in the 2010-2011 academic year
